If you’re on the hunt for tasty food in Mooresville NC, you don’t have to look far. Fortunately, if you live anywhere in the Charlotte or Hickory area, it’s likely Tony’s Pizza is nearby. And, we like to think we have some of the best food Mooresville NC has to offer.
Beginning with Mario’s Pizza, our sister restaurant, Tony’s Pizza continues to spread throughout North Carolina. We now have multiple delicious locations in Mooresville, Huntersville, Hickory and throughout Charlotte.
Since 1981, we’ve served our signature NY-style pizza thanks to brothers, Tony, Vinny, and Mario, who moved from Brooklyn, NY to NC. We opened our first pizzeria in Jacksonville. Since then, our menu expanded and now includes salads, calzones, strombolis, and numerous other authentic Italian dishes.
Of course, it’s in our name, we serve pizza! NY Style to be specific. But, we also have other fun food Mooresville NC has to offer. Here are some specific options on our delicious menu:
Each kid’s meal comes with a free drink in a reusable cup with straw.
If you live in or visit North Carolina, you’ve likely tried regional favorites like Lexington BBQ. However, many national chains originated in the Tar Heel State as well. Pepsi, Mt. Olive Pickles, Cheerwine and Lance Crackers are all well-known brands that began in our state. Likewise, several famous eateries began in NC too.
In 1960, Wilbur Hardee liked what he saw at a McDonald’s and opened a similar-style restaurant in Greenville. For deeper flavor, he cooked his burgers over a chargrill. Eventually Hardee sold ownership of his name although the chain continued to flourish and opened 1,800 restaurants across the U.S.
Jack Fulk (a Hardee’s franchise owner) and Richard Thomas (a Kentucky Fried Chicken executive) joined forces to open Bojangles in 1977 in Charlotte. Specializing in Cajun fried chicken and fresh, homemade buttermilk biscuits, the restaurant is a favorite eatery today with about 340 locations in NC alone.
Morris Reaves opened the first Cookout restaurant in Greensboro in 1989. Still growing, this favorite offers inexpensive prices and a multitude of sides. Better yet, they serve another NC original, Cheerwine!
1937 marks the birth of a North Carolina sweet treat. Around that time, Vernon Rudolph purchased a secret yeast-raised doughnut recipe from a New Orleans French chef. Next, he rented a building in historic Old Salem and baked his doughnuts for local grocery stores. Once passersby began asking to buy the aromatic delight, Vernon cut a hole in an outside wall and sold doughnuts from his shop.
